About trip
- From the car park, head into the woods towards Aira Falls and take the first bridge over the stream. - Keep to the right hand track following the fence to the gate. - The track up the southern side of the fell is easy to follow and has well paved steps. - The shooting lodge is now a ruin and marks the point where you leave the path shown on the OS Map. The track is easy to follow. - From the fell top head south around the left hand side of the hillock. There are many small intersecting tracks on the top of the fell but the main route is distinguishable from the lesser travelled ones. - If the visibility is good, the path will wind back and forth heading towards the left hand side of Place Fell (High Dodd) that can be seen on the far side of Ullswater. *In poor visibility conditions care should be taken*. - A cairn marks the point where the route along the fell top ends and the descent to the right down towards the waterfalls begins.
